Moving Research: Embodied Perspectives on Urban Infrastructures

In this Meet the Makers event, together with feminist transformation researcher Sinje Grenzdörffer we will go on a performative journey to explore together how embodied knowledge can be co-created from the swift tickle of a first idea to a rooted implementation that breaks through the concrete.

Sinje’s research is aimed at making sense of liveable urban presents and futures through a multisensory approach. Her experiences with dance-based real-world laboratories will serve as a compass. Yet, more importantly than the contents of her work, this session will focus on the creative process of embodied knowledge creation. This includes a reflection on linear temporalities, which we will explore together.

With the empty building of Janskerkhof 13 as our stage, participants will be guided through a curated talk that includes an embodied understanding of the different stations of Sinje’s research process.

About the speaker

Sinje Grenzdörffer has a main focus on the transformative potentials of current economic practices and structures. As feminist transformation researcher, she conceptualizes, analyzes, questions, criticizes, discards, and regenerates visions of liveable presents and futures.

Circular sense-making, thoughts in process

With a transformative perspective on science itself, she explores economic contents through embodied and multisensory methods of knowledge creation and communication. As dancer, poet, photographer and story-teller, she integrates, doubts, reflects, captures, resists, expresses, embodies, and wonders about visions of liveable presents and futures.

Careful sense-making, sensations in process

In her latest project under the title “dancing for future: what’s your move?” she was main responsible for the co-creation of three different real-world laboratories in which the limitations and transformative potentials of different urban environments were explored through dance.
