Call for Volunteers

At the Performing Robots Conference, in collaboration with SPRING Performing Arts Festival, we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team! It will be a great opportunity for you to meet people with similar interests, as well as artists and scholars of the field, and for you to enjoy a creative environment. Volunteers are an essential part of these types of events: will you help us make this event a success?

The conference will place at Het Huis Utrecht on the 24th and 25th of May, from 09.30 until 18.00 each day. Additionally, you could also help during the opening on the 23rd at Janskerkhof, from 15.15 until 18.00. For a general outline of the programme you can have a look here.

These are the available roles during the conference:

Hospitality (2 pp): you will be in contact with the visitors, speakers and artists, providing information about the program, the locations, and general inquiries. You will be in charge of checking everyone has the right ticket and that they are at the right time and location.

Aptitudes: you speak fluent English, are social and outgoing.

Panel assistant (3 pp): you will be in one of the locations helping the speaker or artist to set everything up, and making sure that everything runs smoothly. You will also make sure that the transitions between panels or demonstrations are done on time.

Aptitudes: you are resolutive, active and friendly.

Stage manager (1 p): you will be in the main theatre hall, in close contact with the technicians of Het Huis Utrecht and the panel assistant to make sure that everything runs smoothly. You will also be in charge of the communication with the location manager in order to start on time. For this position, some technical knowledge is advisory.

Aptitudes: you are proactive, resolutive, and are able to coordinate people in an efficient and friendly manner.

Location manager (1 p): you will be overlooking all of the locations, making sure that everything runs smoothly. You will be a contact person for other volunteers, speakers and artists. You will have a coordinating role, and will make sure that everything starts on time and without complications.

Aptitudes: you can multitask, you can deal with problems in an efficient and friendly manner, you love coordinating and being in contact with people.

Videographer (2 pp): you will be responsible for documenting the conference (keynote lectures, panels and demonstrations). This will include interviewing people, as well as documenting the various events of the conference. It is important to get a sense the vibe of the conference and be familiar with the subject matter, but it is also an opportunity to be creative and innovative.

Aptitudes: Comfortable with filming, interested in capturing events, highlighting key moments and grasping the essence of what is happening. You are proactive, creative and friendly.

Experience in filming is not mandatory, but highly recommended

Photographer (1 p): You will be responsible for documenting the conference through pictures.

Aptitudes: active, friendly, interested in capturing important moments

Experience in taking photographs is not mandatory, but highly recommended
