Partners – Cultures of Dance (CODA)
CoDa | Cultures of Dance is a new scientific research community supported by Research Foundation Flanders (FWO). The aim of the CoDa is to promote Dance Studies as an academic discipline on both a national and international level. The research network will foster the mutual exchange of knowledge, expertise, and skills between dance researchers and practitioners, both locally and abroad, through the organization of various activities. CoDa will be an important platform to give more visibility to Dance Studies as it has been emerging in Belgium as well as in other European countries. The network is joining the forces of several Belgian partners with a range of international research groups who have leading expertise in dance studies.
The Belgian research units are: Research Centre for Visual Poetics (UAntwerp), Institute for Cultural Studies (KU Leuven), S:PAM (Studies in Performing Arts & Media, Ghent University), CiASP (Centre de Recherche en Cinéma et Arts du Spectacle, ULB), and CORPoREAL (Royal Conservatoire Antwerp). The European partners are: Centre for Dance Research (University of Roehampton, UK), Dancing Memory – Transmitting Heritage (Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, IT), C-DaRE (Centre for Dance Research, Coventry University, UK), Transmission in Motion (Utrecht University, NL), and Local Dance Scenes on Global Stages (University of Arts, Belgrade, UA).
